I just finished watching season 1 of the anime, Karneval. I really loved it. I never understood how people could crush on anime characters, but now I understand. Yogi is so lovable, you just can't help it, really.
Somehow they were able to incorporate genetic experiments and mutant monsters, while still managing to create an adorable show, and tell a sweet story. I haven't read the manga yet, but I plan to. It's interesting to watch the english dub and the subtitled dub. The english dub has Greg Ayres doing Gareki's voice, which I wouldn't have expected, because the original actor has kind of a lower, more detached voice. I really loved both though. It's fun to hear the different approaches the actors take to the material--It's kinda like watching it in a completely different way and then being left with 2 different impressions when comparing the 2 dubs. Anyway, I love Greg Ayres' voice--It kinda reminds me of Beast boy from the Teen Titans.
I also just finished Beyond the Boundary--Another cute show with demons no less. Anyway, I liked it with it's off-beat humor. It's quirky, and it has a lot of quiet moments, but I enjoyed it and the artwork is stellar. I read a little bit of the light novel, and I think I might like it even more. So far, from what I can tell it's written really well. I guess the only problem I had was with the last 20 seconds of the finale episode--Just a little cheesy, but overall, it's a good show.
Blue Exorcist is a lot of fun to watch as well. I haven't finished it yet. I've decided to just watch it once a week when they play it on Adult Swim's Toonami. My favorite character is actually Rin's dad, Shiro. He's the coolest. I keep hoping he'll come back all Gandalf the White style, but so far no luck
